UNDERSTAND THE TOOL

How to add a visual signature to a PDF

Visual signature only

This tool adds a visible representation of a signature. It does not apply a cryptographic digital signature, certificate signature, qualified signature, or identity proof.

Local PDF editing

For compatible, unencrypted PDFs, the browser appends a stamp annotation with a custom appearance stream. The original PDF bytes stay on your device.

Compatibility notes

  • Encrypted PDFs are not supported.
  • Some PDFs with compressed or indirect page annotation structures may not be editable without a full PDF library.
  • PNG uploads are embedded through a browser-generated image; transparent pixels may render on a light background.

Placement math

Signature placement is stored as percentages of the selected page, then converted to PDF coordinates and clamped inside the page bounds.

PDF signature handling

The PDF and visual signature stay in the browser while the tool appends a visible annotation. It is not a certificate-backed digital signature.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a digital signature?

No. It only adds a visual signature mark and does not use certificates or cryptographic signing.

What PDFs are supported?

The local editor supports compatible, unencrypted PDFs whose page dictionaries can be inspected in the browser.

Can I add more than one signature?

You can run the downloaded PDF through the tool again to add another visual signature.

Will PDF readers show this as a verified signature?

No. PDF readers may show the visible mark, but they will not show it as a cryptographically verified signature.
