What is Electricity Cost Calculator?

Enter appliance power, daily usage, billing period, quantity, and tariff to estimate kWh consumption and cost for one or more devices.

UNDERSTAND THE TOOL

How to estimate electricity cost

How it is calculated

Power is converted to kilowatts, multiplied by the number of appliances and hours used per day, then multiplied by days and the tariff per kWh.

Formula
kWh = kW * quantity * hours per day * days

Multiple appliances

Each appliance is calculated separately and then added to the combined total, so you can compare one device with the whole period estimate.

Common uses

  • Estimate the cost of an air conditioner, heater, computer, or appliance.
  • Compare several devices before changing usage habits.
  • Forecast a partial period or a 30-day monthly estimate.

Worked example

Daily use
daily_kWh = (watts / 1000) * quantity * hours_per_day
Period cost
cost = daily_kWh * days * tariff_per_kWh

Two 100 W lamps for 5 hours

At 0.25 per kWh over 30 days, the lamps use 30 kWh and cost 7.50 for the period.

0.1 kW * 2 * 5 * 30 * 0.25 = 7.50

Appliance estimate notes

Appliance names, wattage, hours, and tariff values stay in the page while you estimate. The result assumes steady usage and a fixed kWh tariff.

Frequently Asked Questions

What tariff should I enter?

Use the price you pay per kWh from your electricity bill, including taxes or fees if you want a closer estimate.

Can I add more than one appliance?

Yes. Add as many rows as needed and the tool calculates both individual and combined totals.

Is the monthly cost exact?

It is an estimate based on 30 days at the same daily usage and tariff.

Why does the tool show a monthly estimate?

Monthly kWh and cost use the same daily usage multiplied by 30, so you can compare appliances even when the custom period is shorter or longer.
