What is Study Session Planner?

A study session planner splits your available time into fixed-length study blocks with breaks between them, cycling through your subjects in proportion to the weight you give each one.

UNDERSTAND THE TOOL

How to plan study sessions

Use this planner to break the time you actually have into focused study blocks and breaks, spread across your subjects in proportion to how much attention each one needs.

How the block order is built

Each subject appears in the rotation a number of times proportional to its weight — a subject weighted 2 shows up roughly twice as often as one weighted 1. Blocks and breaks are only added while there's still enough time left to fit them.

A Pomodoro-style plan

Set the study block to 25 minutes and the break to 5 minutes for a classic Pomodoro rhythm.

Getting the most out of a plan

  • Give harder or higher-priority subjects a bigger weight so they get more blocks, not just equal time.
  • Match session length to how long you can actually stay focused — shorter blocks with real breaks usually beat one long unbroken stretch.
  • Re-run the planner as deadlines shift instead of trying to patch an old plan by hand.

When to deviate from the plan

If a block clearly needs more time than scheduled, finish the thought before switching subjects — the plan is a default order, not a rule you have to follow exactly.

A starting plan, not a fixed schedule

Use subject weights to front-load harder material, then feel free to reorder or skip blocks once you see how the plan actually fits your day and real deadlines.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a subject's weight control?

A higher weight makes that subject repeat more often in the generated block order, so it gets more total study time.

Are breaks counted as part of the total time?

Yes — the planner only schedules a block or a break if it still fits inside the time you have left.

Can I use this for a Pomodoro-style routine?

Yes — set study blocks to 25 minutes and breaks to 5 minutes for a standard Pomodoro rhythm.

How do I enter subjects and weights?

One subject per line, optionally followed by a comma and a weight, like "Calculus, 2" — leave the weight off for the default of 1.
