What is GPA Calculator?
Calculate GPA online with letter grades, plus/minus points, credits, Honors and AP/IB weighting, custom points, cumulative projection, target GPA, CSV, and copyable results.
How to calculate semester and cumulative GPA
Calculate credit-weighted semester GPA, project cumulative GPA, and estimate future credits needed to reach a target.
Credit-weighted GPA
Each counted course contributes grade points multiplied by its credits. The sum of quality points is divided by counted credits. Pass grades are excluded, while an F remains a zero-point graded course.
Weighted and cumulative projections
The weighted scale adds 0.5 for Honors and 1.0 for AP/IB courses, capped at 5.0. Previously completed credits and current GPA are combined with the entered term to project a new cumulative GPA.
How to use it
- Choose the 4.0 unweighted or 5.0 weighted scale.
- Add each course, its credits, grade, and level.
- Enter current cumulative values and a target.
- Review projections, copy the summary, or download the course CSV.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Pass grade affect GPA?
No. Pass is excluded from both GPA points and counted credits. Use F when the course should count as zero grade points.
How are Honors and AP classes weighted?
On the weighted scale, Honors adds 0.5 and AP/IB adds 1.0 to the base letter-grade points, capped at 5.0. Your institution may use different bonuses.
Why can a target GPA be impossible?
A target equal to the maximum scale cannot be reached from a lower cumulative average with any finite number of future credits, though the GPA can approach it.
