How to calculate fuel trip cost

How the estimate is calculated

The calculator divides total distance by efficiency in km/L, then multiplies the liters by the price per liter. When round trip is enabled, distance is doubled before fuel use is calculated.

Splitting the cost

The per-passenger result divides the total estimated fuel cost by the number of passengers. It does not add tolls, parking, maintenance, depreciation, or driver time.

Better inputs

  • Use your vehicle's real average km/L for the route type.
  • Update the fuel price shortly before the trip.
  • Add a buffer for traffic, detours, hills, or heavy cargo when planning cash.
